Sourced from the visible world of print media; I used this highly composed and disposable material to relate memories of mine - redirecting images into collages with acute personal meaning. The notion of the general circulation of these images within the public domain (in their original contexts), and as such their availability to be seen, is central to the work. An inherent public consciousness contained within them meshes and conflicts with my own subjectivities. The work both plays out and disrupts received, fabled archetypes; operating in the gap between the mythology of symbolic power and the acceptance of these myths as real.
